Changes in the Professional Cleaning Industry… That Affect You!
Even though change can have a positive impact on our lives, it is generally something we avoid. No matter the reason for the change, most of us would rather keep things just the way they are. We get used to the way we clean the bathrooms, wash the floors or vacuum the carpets. We have our cleaning supplies of choice and our cleaning routines that are tried and true. However, the professional cleaning industry continually invents new things. A new machine that increases productivity, a new procedure that makes the "old way" seem truly obsolete, or a new cleaning solution or floor finish that makes the previous product “outdated.”
At Don Aslett’s Cleaning Center, we embrace positive change and it is our goal to keep our customers informed of changes in the professional cleaning industry that affect them and the way they clean their home. So read on and learn more about the latest technology and product innovations in the cleaning industry that can make your life easier and your cleaning faster and even more effective.

It only takes a few minutes to save time and resources with concentrated cleaners |
 |
 |
The use of concentrated products is generally a money saver, and the environmental effects are even greater.
Concentrates are just now showing up in the cleaning section local retail stores, but the professional industry has been using them for years. Why have the pros been using concentrates all this time?
Concentrates save money!
By using a concentrated cleaner and mixing yourself, here are the savings:
- Save on gasoline – the cost to transport 2 ounces of concentrate vs. a quart of ready-to-use is a savings of over 93%.
- Save on plastic bottles. One quart of concentrate makes 16 quarts of product, so you are not paying for 15 additional bottles.
- Save on corrugate boxes – more savings from the manufacturer. If the manufacturer doesn’t need to produce 15 more bottles to get the same amount of ready-to-use product, they pass the saving on to the consumer.
But the biggest savings come from mixing the product yourself, here are a couple comparisons:

Why else do concentrates make sense? There is far less impact for the environment, with less carbon emission from gasoline and less plastic in the landfills. Recycling is a great alternative on the plastic and the corrugate but even recycling requires energy. Zero energy is required if something is never produced.
So why does Don Aslett make some products Ready to Use? If you’ve never tried a concentrate, it can be confusing. Try the ready to use version of SoilMaster, Clean N Brite and Wood Wash and you’ll find easy to follow instructions so you can buy the concentrate next time and reuse the packaging. |

There's a new Carpet Sheriff in town: The Carpet & Rug Institute Seal Of Approval |
 |
 |
Today’s carpets are more stain resistant and durable than ever. However, preserving the life, beauty, and possibly the warranty of your carpets, depends on three important factors: the quality of products and equipment used to clean them; how often they are cleaned; and the techniques used by the person doing the cleaning.
The US Carpet and Rug Institute is the new carpeting sheriff in town. Representing carpet manufacturers, cleaning product suppliers and consumers alike, they want you to know that while carpet cleaners, methods and equipment are improving all the time, not all of them are good for yourcarpet nor do they clean equally well – not by a long shot!
At CRI, their mission is to test and evaluate carpet cleaning products to determine the best carpet care and cleaning choices for consumers. Using such test criteria as performance, environmental responsibility, and customer satisfaction, CRI establishes the preferred standards. Since inception, they have tested a wide assortment of carpet products and equipment and found a tremendous variance in how well these products work — and also discovered that some even damage carpet!
The coveted CRI Seal Of Approval certifies the effectiveness of carpet cleaning products to remove difficult stains or a sufficient amount of soil without leaving residue or causing damage to the carpet or the backing. Not all products clean wellenough to earn this distinction. So seeing the CRI Seal of Approval logo on our products insures you are buying the best quality carpet cleaning products available.
About CRI testing: Under the Seal of Approval program, products are tested by independent laboratories to assess performance using scientifically accredited cleaning standards.
Spot removers and pre-spray/in-tank cleaning solutions are tested for overall cleaning effectiveness, pet stain and odor removal effectiveness, rate of re-soiling, pH, optical brighteners and colorfastness to light.
Deep cleaning extractors are tested for soil removal, amount of residual moisture and appearance retention.
Deep cleaning systems - which use a specific machine used with a particular cleaning agent, following a set procedure - are tested for soil removal, re-soiling, appearance retention, residualmoisture, surface appearance change with repeated cleaning, colorfastness, pH and optical brighteners.
Vacuums are tested for soil removal, soil containment and wear to the carpet. |
