How to Clean Brown Stains Left After Carpet Cleaning |
You may notice brown stains on your carpet after a thorough carpet cleaning or spotting. These stains occur if there is too much cleaning solution or water used during the cleaning process. Another reason these brown stains occur is that dirt that is usually deep down in the carpet resurfaces as the carpet dries. This is called wicking. If these problems occur, clean the areas again with as little water as necessary. Here is a list of steps to solve carpet browning issues:
- Purchase a low pH acid neutralizer such as our Carpet Rinse and Neutralizer. You need a low pH acid neutralizer of about 2.0 to safely remove the brown discoloration from your carpet
- If you have one available, use a wet vacuum to suck up any water and cleaning solution left behind from the previous carpet cleaning
- Spray the Carpet Rinse and Neutralizer on the brown spots. Do not over-spray; you do not want to over-wet the affected area again
- Agitate the area with a tool such as Handi-Groom to get the cleaning solution deep down into the carpet fibers
- Blot the stain with clean white cotton cloth containing no dyes to absorb excess cleaning solution on the carpet surface. Repeat this process until you can no longer see the brown stain
- Remove any excess moisture using a wet vac or a large absorbent towel and stack several heavy books on top. Leave overnight and the moisture will wick into the towel
- Use a box fan to expedite the drying process. Point the fan toward the affected area - thoroughly drying the area is important.

Clean and Brighten Wood Floor Surfaces |
For wood floors, dust mopping is always my first step. Tackle the corners and all along the baseboards and then dust the center of the floor using an “S” pattern. Microfiber Dust Mops are definitely best as they require no chemical treatment and can be washed hundreds of times. Then spray a fine mist of Clean & Brite to a section of the floor and use a microfiber mop to fully clean and enhance the shine in no time at all

Restore, Don’t Replace Those Vinyl Floors |
Our theory is to always restore, not replace vinyl floors. A fresh new coat of Top Gloss Floor Finish is one of the most effective ways to restore lost luster on slightly worn or older floors. It is also an excellent formula to provide protection and preserve newer floors. With Top Gloss, the finish takes the wear not the floor itself. Why not vinegar? Vinegar is getting a lot of good press right now but you need to know it is mildly acidic. An acid applied to your floor over time will cause dulling and etching.
